Peking, May 17, 1906.
IN continuation of Sir E. Satow's despatch No. 184 of the 17th ultimo, reporting the difficulties which were being caused by the Fukhien provincial authorities to the opening of Shacheng to steam navigation, I have the honour to report that a telegram was received by His Majesty's Minister on the 4th May from His Majesty's Consul at Foochow, to the effect that the first trip of a British vessel to Shacheng had been successfully accomplished, and that she had encountered no obstruction. Mr. Brady added that the Admiral, with four torpedo boats, visited Shacheng at the same time.
